William G. Ladewig, Esq

Milwaukee native Bill Ladewig was a scholarship athlete on the 1960’s winning Boston College football teams. Following graduation he entered Marquette University Law School, where he remained until, in the wake of an escalating war inVietnam, he was drafted into U.S. Army. Over the next four years he rose to the rank of Captain and was stationed in Panama, where his primary assignment was defending the Panama Canal against potential threats of a Vietcong takeover.

When he was not proudly defending his nation, Ladewig spent his extra time supporting the local economy of Panama. His last assignment was as the Arts, Artifacts and Monuments Officer for Africa and the Middle East, which prevented thieves from stealing the pyramids in Egypt and relocating them somewhere else. After successfully completing his military service he returned to law school.

Other jobs Ladewig held prior to beginning the practice of law include building fences, a gandy dancer for the SOO Line Railroad, route salesman and delivery person, Albany Rug Carpet cleaners; an as a laborer for the Archie Ladewig Bottle Washing Company, Inc.

Ladewig’s law career began in the Milwaukee city attorney’s office as an intern and prosecutor in the Milwaukee County court system, with responsibilities for researching legal issues, drafting ordinances and prosecuting ordinance violations. Today he is senior partner in the law firm of LADEWIG, RECHLICZ & IGGENS, emphasizing litigation in both Federal and State courts.

In addition to his legal career, Ladewig is the founder and former publisher of “Senior Citizens News & Views, Inc.,” now known as, “50 PLUS.” He is co–owner of “50 PLUS,” the largest senior newspaper in Southeastern Wisconsin and “WISCONSIN WOMAN,” president, “Senior News Consulting, Inc.;” and past President and founder, Mid–America Mature Publishers Assn. Currently he is acting as a consultant to these publications. An award–winning writer over many years, his short story “Kate” won the 2008 Wisconsin Regional Writers Association First Place Jade Ring Award. Read some of his short stories.

Today Ladewig continues as practicing attorney, now having more than three decades of legal experience. Through the practice of law, he has counseled and guided many as they struggled through the legal and emotional processes associated with grief, which led him to write MEMORIES OF YOU – A HEALING JOURNEY THROUGH THE GARDEN OF GRIEF.
